Casa Azul

Casa Azul is a photographic and sociological project based on the stories of five transgender women incarcerated in one of Mexico City’s male prisons. The project shows how people construct their identity in an environment where they are forbidden to express their femininity.

Giulia Iacolutti illustrates her point with photographs printed in cyanotype, the Prussian blue referring to the ‘Blue House’ in which prisoners are obliged to wear blue.
