Jolie vue mauvais présage is a picture book of meteorological oracles, a nod as much to cinema and comics as to the natural history museum. Composed like dioramas, each double-page spread features a landscape foreground masking a word floating like a title in a dramatic sky.

Weather phenomena have always been interpreted as good or bad omens, and influence our moods first and foremost. Here, words evoking low feelings are set against backdrops more conducive to feelings of hope or grandeur: rainbows, lightning, aurora borealis and sunsets become harbingers of general disquiet.
