Wade Guyton im Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop

The science fiction author and art critic Mark von Schlegell accompanies the idea, preparation and installation of the five paintings that Wade Guyton has integrated into the permanent collection for the Albers Museum. Guyton’s works show references to classical modernism such as the artists of the New York School or minimalism. Using a reduced vocabulary, he explores the possibilities of visual language. At the same time, Wade Guyton plays with the idea of artistic authorship. In his work, the creative act is separated from the artist’s hand. Thus, his paintings are usually created on the computer and then take their form as prints on classical canvas.
