The work of Klara Källström and Thobias Fäldt is characterised by a strong social commitment. The catalogue includes works on the media, power and history. They invite us to critique the dominant narratives about the world today, while examining how photography is used in the creation of these narratives. A guiding principle in their work is the gap between what is visible and what is said. By exploring the limits, challenges and possibilities of photography, the artists aim to unveil and expose neglected parts of official narratives. These are the stories that are uncomfortable. They probably wouldn’t have a natural platform if they didn’t appear in Källström-Faldt’s projects. The artists’ extensive work on Julian Assange and WikiLeaks is perhaps the most striking example of their commitment to exploring narratives that don’t fit a certain mould. The current project examines Assange’s media image following his denunciation of American war crimes. By examining the gaps in Assange’s story, the artists have highlighted anti-democratic forces and attacks on press freedom. and the possibilities of photography, the artists aim to unveil and expose neglected parts of official narratives. These are the stories that are uncomfortable. They probably wouldn’t have a natural platform if they didn’t appear in Källström-Faldt’s projects.
